Suitable for wheelchair users, Meadowsweet is a beautifully presented, recently refurbished property with open views of the surrounding countryside, and a large garden. It is warm, well furnished and well-equipped, with wide doors and wheelchair access to all rooms except the second shower room. There is ramp access to a wide, low sill front door. The drive is level. There is plenty of parking for several cars. All floor coverings are wheelchair friendly. All heating,
electricity, linen and towels are included in the price.
Meadowsweet sleeps 5 people. There are three bedrooms, one with a super king-size zip-and-link bed that converts to two singles. The second room has a Theraposture Electric Profiling bed, with variable height and side rails that can be raised or lowered. There is a battery-powered Oxford Mini 140 hoist. There is also a single bed in this room. The third bedroom is a small room with a small single bed – 2’6” wide, but normal length. A cot is available on request.
There are two shower rooms, one a wet room with wheel-in shower, where a tilting shower wheelchair with commode is provided. This room has an accessible basin for wheelchair users with hand-hold facility around the front rim, and a raised height toilet with drop-down support rail. There are two grab rails in the shower area and a shower stool. The second shower room has a shower, basin and toilet (this room is not accessible in a wheelchair.)
The large living room, with wonderful views to Dunadd Fort, has a wood-burning stove with a basket of logs provided. There is a TV, DVD/BlueRay/CD player, new comfortable furniture and an electric riser/recliner chair. The adjacent dining room has a table that seats 5, and can be extended to seat 6+ people.
The new well-equipped kitchen has a built-in double oven, microwave, dishwasher and washer dryer, as well as a fridge-freezer. The house has WiFi. One dog is welcome.
The area is very peaceful – you will hear buzzards overhead, and migrating geese. A cuckoo calls in a nearby wood from April onwards, and a hare often comes into the garden in the summer, sitting motionless near the front of the house. Swallows gather on the wires behind the house from April to September. There is a burn running at the edge of the garden, which you can hear when it is quiet.
Meadowsweet is in the beautiful Moine Mhor area, close to Crinan and the Crinan Canal, and Kilmartin. There is a wide range of activities locally, including boat trips, gardens to visit, stunning lochs and coastline, and many prehistoric sites to see in Kilmartin Glen. The favourite tourist towns of Oban and Inverary are within easy driving distance. There is a wide range of pubs and restaurants locally. The excellent shops in Lochgilphead are five miles away. This house is in an unusually flat part of Scotland, the surrounding roads are quiet and level, so you could go out in your wheelchair and explore locally, with wonderful views of hills all around.
