Water is a big part of the Heart of Argyll

Sheltered waters, remote beaches, outstanding scenery and idyllic anchorages make the Heart of Argyll a fantastic short break or holiday destination for every type of watersports enthusiast. From sailing to power boating, kayaking and wind surfing, wildlife adventure boat trips and exceptional fishing, this unique coastline is there for you to explore.

The Crinan Canal, described as “Britain’s prettiest short cut”, links Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura, providing easy access to the intricate coastline and the beautiful sea lochs and bays surrounding Knapdale.

There is an excellent choice of marina, chandlery and boat yard facilities throughout the Heart of Argyll as well as yacht charterers, making it perfect for family boating holidays.

Visiting the world famous Gulf of Corryvreckan whirlpool, which lies between the islands of Jura and Scarba, on a boat trip is a must, while one of the loveliest fresh water lochs in Scotland at Loch Awe is also easily accessible.
