  • Mid Argyll Community Pool (MACPool) is a social enterprise, owned & operated by Mid Argyll Community Enterprise Ltd (MACEL), and is a Registered Charity in Scotland. The swimming pool opened in March 1996 after extensive fundraising for many years by the local community, spearheaded by John MacLean.

Argyll has a huge coastline and therefore the life skill of swimming is essential. This precious skill is taught through our Learn to Swim Programme, sponsored by The Scottish Salmon
Company. MACPool is an invaluable resource for local schools allowing children to further their physical development whilst learning to swim in a high quality, safe environment.

MACPool is heated by a Biomass Boiler which is considered by the Carbon Trust to be carbon neutral. Using local by-product, woodchips, the boiler saves the pool £13,000 annually & represents the pool’s commitment to being environmentally responsible.
