BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL
Wednesday Evenings between April 19th and September 20th. Start time dependent on booking date – usually between 6pm and 7pm.
Join us on one of our regular evening walks (approx 2 hrs) into the Atlantic Rainforest, home of the Knapdale beavers. We will explore the beavers’ habitat and view the changes thay have brought about since their arrival in 2009. The walk ends at a place giving us the best possible chance to see the beavers begin their evening activities.
We cannot guarantee a sighting of the beavers, but in 2022 they were spotted on 95% of our walks.
Our Rangers will tell you about the history of the Knapdale beavers, why they were reintroduced, their role as ‘eco-engineers’, and how they fit into our temperate rainforest habitat.
You will see lots of signs of beaver activity, the landscape, and new habitats they have created, and possibly a beaver sighting!
Please dress for the weather – sturdy footwear, waterproofs, sunscreen, midgie repellent all advisable!
