Our western most coastline is bound by a mosaic of Marine Protected Areas, designated a Mission Blue Argyll Hope Spot. This special body of water offers a huge range of habitats from shallow sandy, sheltered sea lochs to deep water sounds, where diving species can reach depths of over 200m just off the shore. Our extraordinary and diverse coastline comprises sea lochs, rocky peninsulas, narrows and islands and surrounding the 3rd largest whirlpool in the world. Perfect for marine species.

The Crinan Canal, described as “Britain’s prettiest short cut”, links Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura, providing easy access to the intricate coastline and the beautiful sea lochs and bays surrounding Knapdale.

Exploring the longest sea loch in Scotland, Loch Fyne, or visiting the world famous Gulf of Corryvreckan whirlpool, which lies between the islands of Jura and Scarba, on a boat trip is a must; while one of the loveliest and the longest fresh water lochs in Scotland at Loch Awe is also easily accessible.
